i can't find my camera cord...

Hey there. It's me.

 As I type, I'm sitting in our hotel room in Florida. We've made it to our new home state and are so ready to settle in. For now, we have a little bit of hotel time before we can move into our apartment, so I'm taking the opportunity to relax. The cord for my camera is floating around somewhere in the three duffel bags and two suitcases that we brought with us from MD, so I thought I'd share some of my Instagram photos from our three weeks there.

Niece and nephew time // the view from Chris' parents' house // yummy Old Bay seasoned crab chips // the heavenly smell of honeysuckle // the chapel we were married in three years ago // celebrating Chris' birthday // homemade sushi with my siblings // baby bump // celebrating our third anniversary // me & dad

a shopping day with my little sis // practicing with our nephew // lazy mornings with tea // little sister painting my toes for me // the tortuous steps up from Chris' parents' dock // a vintage globe that I commandeered from my parents for Si's nursery // Chickfila runs // more baby bump // a new ring

sailing on the Severn with my love

It was a sweet trip that exhausted physically but rejuvenated us emotionally. Thanks for bearing with my sporadic posting schedule lately!

inspire me monday:: gray couches

It's been ages since I've done an Inspire Me Monday post, but as we're getting ready to move into our new apartment in about 10 days, my mind has been non-stop brainstorming ways to organize, decorate and make our new apartment into our new home.

This week we picked up a new slip cover for our IKEA Karlstad sofa-- a really lovely rich dark gray! (Specifically the Sivik dark gray cover). I love the color and with a baby on the way, it's convenient that we can just toss it into wash if (er, when!) it gets dirty.

I've gathered some bright inspiration images this week. I'm drawn in by the abundance of bright white, lots of color and clean modern lines.

oh baby:: 29 weeks!

Silas and I hit 29 weeks on Tuesday and boy, am I feeling it. At the moment, kiddo is up in my ribs and making it hard for mama to breathe. I've been more exhausted than I thought would be possible simply from an hour of walking and my heartburn is back with a vengeance. (Even with my prescription Zantac and gobbling Tums... many tears were shed at 2am this morning I was in such pain.)

 I have really loved being pregnant, but this past week has made me weary and ready to have my body back to "normal", whatever that will mean from now on. I'm also ready to just be done with this transition and start making up our home in Florida.

My sisters (on Chris' side and my side!) threw me two different baby showers this past weekend. We feel overwhelmingly blessed by all of the friends and family that love this little boy already. I'm so excited that we will be closer to home now so they can watch Si grow.

I've also been feeling pretty mushy about Si's daddy this week. We celebrated Chris' birthday on Monday and our third anniversary yesterday. More times than I can count this week, I've glanced over at my husband and felt a rush of joy knowing he is by my side. More than anything, the sight I look forward to most is seeing him hold our baby boy in a few months.

My parents' house is quiet right now so I'm going to steal some time for a bubble bath and a nap before an epic sushi making night with my little brother and sister later.

maternity photo session on the beach!

The day before we left the island, Chris and I met up with our precious friend, Rachel, of Blue Nalu Photography for a super quick beach maternity session. I love Rachel's photography and I'm excited that we have these beautiful photos to remind us of our love for Hawaii and this sweet time in our lives.

 Looking at these pictures now, I'm kind of amazed at how much my belly has grown in the last two weeks since they were taken. Our Silas is growing so fast!

oh baby:: 28 weeks!

Three cheers for the third trimester! The past few weeks have been eh, pretty rough on this pregnant body. Moving is exhausting! You should have seen my ankles after our flights to the East Coast-- they looked like elephant stumps. And painful too! Thankfully they've gone down since then, so I resemble a normal human being again.

As my belly (and ahem, everything else) has gotten bigger, I've been opting for much simpler outfits. Belts, tight pants and layers are just not quite as comfy as they used to be. (Though truth be told, I still sometimes choose style over comfort... for about 2 hours until I *must* change into something soft and loose!) Clothes are rapidly becoming tighter and I'm having to set aside more and more of my wardrobe each day. I can't imagine this belly much bigger, but I know it's gonna get there!

We got to see Silas via 3D/4D ultrasound yesterday and you guys-- this kid has already stolen my heart. His smooshed little face is so precious and I can't wait to meet him face to face. I think that the next 3 months are going to fly by. A few weeks here in Maryland, getting settled in Florida and August will be here before we know it.

I could use some prayers as we are trying to figure out switching our providers and getting in with an OB down in Florida. I hate all the insurance red tape and hoping that the transition will be smooth and I can find a doctor that I love.

We found an apartment that we're really excited to move into down there and that makes me feel so much better about the move. Knowing we'll only have so many days in a hotel before we get to set up a new home (and Si's nursery!) comforts my mama heart. I'm ready for some nesting!

pipeline.

About two weeks ago, Chris and I headed to Pipeline to catch some waves and one of our last sunsets on the island. Since we were packing Chris' board up that next week, it was the last time he had a chance to surf and he tore it up.

I caught some fun pictures of him as the sun lowered in the sky and shone through the waves like glass. It made my heart soar to see him completely in his element. Seeing him so happy like that is one of my very favorite sights in the world.

We're home in MD and enjoying a rainy, cloudy day today. I'll probably be posting less than usual over the next few weeks-- we're soaking up lots of family time and enjoying a break after a super stressful moving month. As I type, Si is jumping around in my belly and I'm propping my massively swollen feet up. We're excited to see baby boy during our 3D/4D ultrasound tomorrow.

Hope you are having a great week, friends!

goodbye and hello.

Saying goodbye to our island home and hello to new adventures today! Such a strange mix of emotions, but mostly relief that the painful moving-out process is over and excitement for all the things to come.

baby shower!

A few weeks ago, my sweet girl friends threw Silas and me a baby shower. Orange and turquoise, lots of cupcakes, orange ranunculus, and my favorite-- Papa John's pizza. Do they know me well, or what?

We decorated "pee-pee teepees" (hehe) and played lots of awkward and silly baby games. I love each of these girls and I'm so thankful for the time and effort they put in to celebrating Silas. We might be leaving the island for now, but this sweet ohana is in our hearts and I'm so happy knowing he is loved even from afar.

PS. All the photos were taken by my friend, Rachel! Check out her beautiful photography here!

homeless.

After 15 hours of scrubbing, scouring, vacuuming and steam cleaning, 2 swollen feet on this girl and 1 home inspection, we turned over our house keys and drove away from Aloha Avenue yesterday around 11am.

We actually felt more relieved than sad after almost a week of sleeping on an air mattress and eating out of tupperware. We loved that little house and have so many sweet memories in it. But the stress of moving has been kind of intense (especially being 6.5 months pregnant!) and we're ready for some relaxing time in Maryland before we find our new home in Florida.

And yes, we lived on Aloha Avenue. It was the perfect address and a little secret I've held for the past three years. Even our address was beautiful in Hawaii.

We're in a hotel on base for the next few days while we wait for our flight out on Friday afternoon. Spending lots of time of time with friends and getting in some 'lasts'. Oh, and having a bed to sleep in is pure heaven. I slept like a rock last night.

Thank you thank you thank you for all the prayers and sweet words this week. They've meant the world to us and we've certainly felt those prayers!

oh baby:: 26 weeks!

Oh boy.

This week has been rough, guys.  Right now I'm sitting on our makeshift couch with my feet propped up on a plastic lawn chair and my back is throbbing. I think I'm trying to do more than my body is willing to support this week and it's definitely making protests heard. It's a tough realization that I can't do everything I used to do. And my very real feelings about leaving Hawaii and being in transition for a month are overwhelming at moments.

I guess you could say I'm feeling pretty pathetic today.

But...

I'm thankful.

Thankful that the pack out went smoothly on Tuesday.

Thankful for friends who loan us furniture, pots and pans while we're in our empty house.

Thankful for this baby boy who keeps me company each day and makes me smile like no one else.

Thankful that our ultrasound last Friday went well and he is growing right on track!

Even in the trying times, I know with all my heart that God is taking care of us.

I'm pretty amazed that we're at 26 weeks already and by the time we leave Hawaii, I'll be in my third trimester. I'm over the moon excited to hug my family and let them feel Silas' wild kicks in my belly. To relax in my childhood home for a few weeks and spend time on the river at Chris' parents house. Looking forward to that rejuvenating visit before we head down to Florida to start our new adventures.

Now I'm off to eat some cereal out of a tupperware container. :)
