escaped.

Chris and I took advantage of the long weekend to get away for a bit. We pulled out our backpacking gear and hit the trail. It was so good to escape the craziness of twitter, email, tv, etc. and just focus on each other and the gorgeous rainforest around us. We fell asleep at night to the gurgling of the stream beside us and the rain pouring on our tent. I ate a whole can of clam chowder soup and half a loaf of french bread for dinner and then we indulged in some hot chocolate for breakfast the next morning. Backpacking with Chris is one of my favorite things in the world to do. He was patient with me as I huffed and puffed (I'm amazed how quickly I tire these days!) and when I stopped every 5 minutes to snap pictures. We reminisced on our backpacking adventures as newlyweds and daydreamed about taking our little ones along with us in the years to come.

I'm in love.

With my husband.

With Hawaii.

With our life.

With our baby.

  4. I so miss that part of living out west...DH dragged me out for a two night trip in Yosemite when I was 18 weeks pregnant with Noah. It was one of the most enjoyable trips we'd taken (and we'd done a ton of backpacking in our newlywed years). He talked the whole trip about all the places he wanted to take our little man backpacking with him which is what I think make it so awesome. Picturing our future and all the plans we had for our children. Your post made me smile:)

Your baby bump is sooo cute. I am so impressed with you for backpacking through the mountains while you're preggo. I was never anywhere near as active when I was pregnant.... you are awesome! =)

  17. We loved backpacking pre-kiddos too. Our youngest is now almost old enough for us to start back up. In the mean time we camp a lot. :)
I'm pretty sure your little one will look at these pictures some day and think his (or her) parents are awfully cool!
