:: closed!:: Blogiversary Giveaway:: Girl's Night Out!

This is giveaway numbero tres of my blogiversary celebration. Since I can't bring you all to Hawaii with me to thank you for your sweet support, I'm sending a little bit of Hawaii fun to you!

If you were here with me, we'd probably head for one of my favorite places-- Sansei, where we'd chow down on calamari and sushi and sing our hearts out on the karaoke stage.

But since you can't be here, why don't I just give you some goodies for your own girl's night?

It's My Blogiversary! Two Years, Baby!

I've been blogging for TWO whole years today!  I began writing "From the Aisle to Aloha" right before Chris and I got married as a way to share our adventures as we left home and started our new lives together in Hawaii. I didn't realize I would develop a love for design, have my artwork featured on Young House Love (and get record high stats that day!), get to know many beautiful blogging ladies, start an Etsy shop that has become a passion and full time job and get a chance to meet a lot of my blogging buddies (coming up in twoooo weeks!)

Blogging has become a not just a part of my life, but a part of me.

I thought I'd pull out a few of my favorite posts from the archives to share with you today. I know you don't always have time to go through people's archives, so I shall bring the archives to you!

**Feel free to leave comments on old posts too! Some of the older ones have no comment love and I'd still love to hear what you have to say about the oldies! :)

I love seeing the ways I've grown and changed. It's safe to say that I've grown a lot since this post about whether I consider myself an artist or not.

Remember when Chris left me love notes in the cheese drawer?? Swoon.

And remember when I counted down til homecoming in some, er, interesting ways?

Oh, even better was when he proposed to me. You've gotta read that sweet story.

And the day he came home from deployment last June sure was a happy one. (Cannot wait for our home coming this year!)

We won a tandem surf competition later that week. Woohoo!

This is quite possibly the most delicious and unhealthy thing you will ever eat. And I LOVE it.

Here's another "see how far I've come" post. In this one, I'm debating about starting an Etsy shop. Hm, I think I made the right decision.

I know I say it alot, but I really am incredibly thankful for each of you, my readers. Next week, I'll be having a special Hawaii themed giveaway each day just as a way to say a very heartfelt mahalo for supporting and encouraging me over the last two years. There will be handmade goodies from shops like aPearantly Sew, Oh Sweet Joy and Josiah's Nest as well as lots of other awesome surprises!

Also, as an additional thank you, take 15% off your Aisle to Aloha Studio order with the code TWOYEARSBABY15 at checkout!

Happy Saturday, peeps!

It's Fried Egg, Fried Egg, Fried Egg!

Guess what?! It's Friiiiiiiday! (Did you get the Rebecca Black reference in the title? hehe.)

I'm guest posting for Blair over at Wild and Precious about how I'm unplugging for the weekend. I'm super excited because I just found a 40% off coupon for Borders and I am SO buying a new book and headed to the beach! Woo!

Hop on over and let me know how you are unplugging! (And leave some love for Blair -- her house was broken into this week. Awful, huh?)

So, if you follow me on twitter, you may have heard that I am gearing up to buy my very own DSLR camera next week! Just in time for Creative Estates! I'd like to poll my super creative friends (um, you guys!). So here are my questions:

I've decided to get the Canon Rebel XS. I've heard fabulous things about it and since I'm a beginner photography, I've heard it's a great starter camera.

So, do you have this camera?

Do you love it?

Do you have the 50mm lens? I've heard this is the one to get. Do you use it all the time?

What are other great lenses?

Do you use your camera on auto mostly or are you a whiz with manual? Or somewhere in between?

Do you have any inspirational beginner photography blogs you can share??

If you can't answer any of these questions, just tell me the best thing about your week. :)

Oh, and get PUMPED, because tomorrow is my two year blogiversary and I have lots of really amazing giveaways for you guys next week! It's pretty much gonna be the best week evah.

Aloha From A Sponsor: Rouge & Whimsy

Today, I'm happy to introduce you to Erika, the red haired beauty behind the shop and blog, Rouge and Whimsy. You will love the sweet headbands in her growing shop!

What are three random facts about yourself that will tell my readers a little bit about the girl behind the blog?

I have red hair-- something I used to hate about myself, but now it's my favorite physical trait
I live in Seattle with my wonderful husband Evan and my little corgi, Nesby
I talk fast... (and a lot). Turns out I do a lot of things fast: type fast, read fast...drive fast. (Whoops!)

Which came first, the shop or the blog? What is the meaning behind your blog name?

The shop and products came first. I had/have a personal blog and decided a little over a month ago to dedicate separate blog space to my shop and more craft-y side.

The name speaks to three parts of me. First off, Rouge signifies my red hair and my love of all things French (rouge means red in French.. but red hair in French is rousse...which I decided was too complicated). Two years ago I took a road trip through France and loved every part of the country. Whimsy is a recent add-on. Selling my crafts is a pretty big dream of mine, and I think a lot of my creations are fanciful and fun-- whimsy was a good way to encompass all of that.

What are three of your favorite blog posts to date?

The blog hasn't been up for that long and I have tons of ideas, but the three so far would have to be:
The pup's first Valentine
http://rougeandwhimsy.blogspot.com/2011/02/pups-first-valentine.html
Easy as pie
http://rougeandwhimsy.blogspot.com/2011/02/easy-as-pie.html
Here's to you Dr. Seuss
http://rougeandwhimsy.blogspot.com/2011/03/heres-to-you-dr-seuss.html

If you were a dessert, what kind would you be?

Pie! Specifically my mom's homemade apple or pumpkin pie. (I've included a recipe for the crust in my favorite blog posts for you all) ;)

Thanks Erika!

How adorable is she? How fun would it be to have that gorgeous red hair?? And those accessories are just beautiful, aren't they? I think my favorite is the Hayden. :)

Go visit her blog here or give her shop some love!

[over the weekend] Birthday Celebration!

Happy Monday, my friends! Thank you for all the sweet birthday wishes on Saturday. I had a great day!

I spent the morning at the beach with my girlfriend, Rachel. It was interrupted by some winds and showers, but that also brought countless rainbows, sweet birthday reminders of God's promise and love for me.

After the beach, a nap and a little time getting dolled up, eight of my closest girlfriends arrived for a girls' night out!

We hit up happy hour at the Top of Waikiki revolving restaurant and then spent the rest of the evening rocking out to some karaoke. 'Twas a fabulous night with some of the most amazing people in my life.

Oh, I love birthdays, don't you?! I also have gotten some really amazing birthday mail from a lot of you (and I'm waiting for a package from Chris!). Can't wait to share about that soon!

How was your weekend? Got productive plans for the day? I'm gonna hit the ground running this week, packaging and sending out orders, and hopefully starting on some paintings to refill my shop after my big birthday sale on Saturday!

Happy Birthday to meeee!!

Twenty-five years ago today, a sweet ray of sunshine arrived in this world.

Okay, just kidding. Kind of. As my mom tells the story, I came into the world with my eyes open wide, looking for the party! I'm suuuure that doesn't surprise anyone.

Considering it's my birthday today and Snapshot Saturday on Kim's blog, I thought I'd share some photos of birthday celebrations from years past.

Special thanks to my mom and dad for putting up with my ridiculous exuberance for 25 years. I love you  bunches and I wouldn't be here without you both (no, really...).

Also, I love my husband and wish we could be together today. Today is the 5th birthday he's missed since we've starting dating, but he still always manages to make me feel treasured and loved, not just on my favorite day of the year, but every day. Loooove you Chris!

Have a great day celebrating my birthday, friends! Head over to FB and become a fan for an extra special discount just for today (and the 15% discount will be active again tomorrow!)

A Birthday Weekend Sale!

Let's kick off this biiiirthday weekend with a lil'  sale! Today through Sunday take 15% off your order with the code HAPPYBIRTHDAY15 at checkout! Go shop, now!

And make sure to become a fan on Facebook for an extra special something on my birthday, especially for my fans!

Oh, and just to make your Friday even better, go watch the most ridiculous music video ever. It's fried egg, fried egg, gotta get down on fried egg!

Fresh Paint: Custom Goodness

Lots of fun custom paintings to share with you today!

This first one was for Shey, who makes lovely camera straps. She wanted a custom Click-Click with a camera strap! I painted her 10x20 Click-click with the Carribbean strap, which has gray and white polka dots and a turquoise ruffle. I loooove how this painting turned out, don't you??

The next two are for Megan. Megan makes jewelry for her shop, Flawed Perfection Jewelry, and wanted a Cutie to reflect her passion. So I did a pair of jewelry pliers and some brightly colored beads like those on the necklaces and earrings she makes.

I also painted a pretty butterfly for Megan's mama.

Holly ordered a trio of Cuties-- a Dahlias Dahling Cutie, a magenta ampersand and a turquoise and magenta Click-Click! Pretty, pretty!

And now for a few shop announcements.....

With all these custom orders finished, you know what THAT means! I have two custom slots open, so email me at aisletoaloha@gmail.com if you are interested in a custom painting. Find my queue here  and check out some past custom paintings while you're there.

Remember my Studio to Home series? I love showing off Aisle to Aloha Studio paintings displayed in your home, so send me the best photos of your paintings and I'll feature them here! I'd especially love to see your Cuties!

And finally, I'm trying to make some room in my studio, so hop over to the shop and you might just spy a few paintings on sale! Liiiike, maybe this one and this one, or this one oooor this one? Happy shopping!

Have a fabulous weekend, my sweet friends! Oh, did I tell you, tomorrow is my birthday?! Eek, so excited to celebrate! Are you doing anything to celebrate my birthday, er your weekend? ;)

It's the Little Things: Birthday Mail, Sparkles & Peanut Sauce

It's time for another edition of It's the Little Things! Things that have made me smile this week, all documented from my phone pictures.

A mailbox full of goodies just for meee! :) I've gotten some adorable packages and cards this week for my birthday (which is on Saturday, did I tell you that already??). Feeling extra loved and all the fun mail makes being away from Chris a liiittle easier.

The shams I ordered from UO also came in the mail and they look amazing on our crisp white duvet. Can't wait to show you how the room is coming together!

Sending out lots of Etsy orders made me super happy. I love sending bright sunshiny happiness out in the mail!

I had lunch with a girl friend at California Pizza Kitchen yesterday. I get the same thing every.time. The Thai Spring rolls with their heavenly peanut sauce. So many beautiful flavors in one bite.

Yay for birthday outfits!! After our CPK lunch, we did a little birthday shopping and I got a super cute outfit. My girl friends are taking me out on the town on Saturday and I can't wait to rock this coral and purple duo!

Nothing can make me a whole lot happier than a fresh, full tube of paint. Oh the possibilities.

What's making you smile this week??

PS. I know this post is 12 hours later than normal and I promised a Fresh Paint post. Hoping to get that post to you tomorrow! Thanks for bearing with me!
